Program Overview

A multidisciplinary series of Irish arts and culture in Los Angeles County

CIACLA is proud to announce ‘Fáilte’; a multidisciplinary series of creative events throughout 2023 that showcases Contemporary Art and Culture from leading Irish and Los Angeles based artists working in the visual arts, film, theatre, music and literature. The program will include Live Music Performances, New Episodes of our Round Table Culture Chats, Two Visual Art Exhibitions, the return of our Irish Film Showcase, partnerships with local and visiting artists, as well as CIACLA’s successful monthly get togethers, the CIACLA Creative Network. 

This diverse program aims to showcase some of Ireland's leading and emerging contemporary artists working across artistic disciplines. Aiming to connect with existing and new audiences through a series of events across Los Angeles County, the series will provide an opportunity to engage with innovative, experimental and contemporary Irish culture through accessible locations and experiences.

*Fáilte is the Irish/Gaeilge word for ‘Welcome’, as a nation we are known for our open arms in welcoming and putting on a good show, the Directors of CIACLA would like to invite you to this exciting series of events that promise to be one of most innovative, diverse and creative yet!

MONTHLY GET TOGETHERS - monthly

The CIACLA Creative Network returns with its monthly in-person networking opportunity for Irish & Irish American Artists, Actors, Filmmakers, Dancers, Writers, and Creatives living in California. This new network aims to support the Irish Creative community in Los Angeles and throughout California through community events, opportunities for showcasing their work, and connections to industry professionals living and working in LA and across California. The monthly meet ups include live talks and webinars.


 

New episodes Now Streaming

Culture Chats is an accessible discussion intertwining cultural and social issues, while delving into the minds of some of the leading contemporary voices in Irish culture. 

The episode features Olivia Tracey, an established actress and one of Ireland's most distinguished models, Kirsten Sheridan is an Irish film director and screenwriter, Sonya Macari Devlin an entrepreneur and actress and Jenn McGuirk an actress, singer, voice over artist and hosted by Matthew Nevin. The chat focuses on Irish Creatives living in Los Angeles, on how the they have found success, the ups and downs of their experiences of working in LA and advice for anyone looking to follow in their footsteps.


 

Celebrating irish film 

April 2023 saw the return of CIACLA's Irish Film Showcase in its fourth year celebrating the best of Irish Short Film featuring some of Ireland's most exciting filmmakers!

Showcasing a curated selection of award winning contemporary Irish Short Films, ranging from drama, comedy, animation and contemporary storytelling! The screening aimed to promote the work of the most exciting Irish filmmakers. As the Irish film industry continues to enjoy a surge in output and success, with many Irish films gaining international recognition and winning major awards, we are delighted to provide a platform to engage with exciting new stories and talent.

CIACLA is proud to be a presenting partner of ‘The Humours of Bandon’, a FISHAMBLE: THE NEW PLAY COMPANY production at Odyssey Theatre Ensemble in Los Angeles, running from May 6 - 8th 2023.


 

16-25 June 2023

CIACLA is proud to be a presenting partner of ‘MOLLY BLOOM : REDUX'  at The Limbic Arthouse in Los Angeles, running from June 16-25th 2023.


 

JULY 2022 - SANTA MONICA

You are invited to the Reception of the second annual CIACLA Irish Contemporaries Visual Art exhibition held on Saturday July 8th 2023 from 2-4pm at Building Bridges Art Exchange, Bergamot Station, Santa Monica, Los Angeles. 

CIACLA - The Contemporary Irish Center Los Angeles, in partnership with Building Bridges Art Exchange and The MART Gallery & Studios Dublin, are proud to invite you to the launch of the visual arts group exhibition The Irish Contemporaries {ii}, curated by Ciara Scanlan and Matthew Nevin, which includes the highlighted showcase of new work by CIACLA’s Summer 2023 Artist in Residence Shane Keisuke Berkery.

4th August 2023 - building bridges art exchange

You are invited to a staged reading of ‘Who’s your Daddy?’ on Friday August 4th at 7pm,  presented by CIACLA - Contemporary Irish Arts Center Los Angeles - at Building Bridges Arts Exchange, Bergamot Station. Written and performed by Johnny O’Callaghan and Directed by Alan Smyth.

CIACLA’s Creative Support Platform

CIACLA is delighted to announce a new call out for CIACLA’s Creative Support Platform - a call out for applications of support to the Los Angeles community of artists, curators, actors, musicians, filmmakers and all Irish & Irish American creatives working in LA or California.

Throughout the year, CIACLA will collaborate with a collection of local and visiting partner artists, organisations and community groups who will be showcasing contemporary Irish arts programming in Los Angeles.

This call for partnership allows prospective applicants to apply to CIACLA for support through financial, curatorial or marketing support.
