CIACLA is proud to be a presenting partner of City Hearts 40th Anniversary Celebration Showcase!

May 3rd 2025 |  5-8pm

Hawthorne High School 4859 West El Segundo Boulevard Hawthorne, CA 90250

City Hearts is celebrating 40 years of transforming lives through the arts with a special anniversary celebration on May 3rd at Hawthorne High School in the South Bay. This three-hour event will bring together students, families, educators, and community members for an inspiring and immersive showcase of creativity, highlighting the remarkable impact of City Hearts’ programs over the past four decades.

The event will feature a vibrant student Art gallery displaying over 500 digital and physical works created by students from our Drawing & Mixed Media Art, Printmaking, and Photography programs. Attendees will view a range of artistic expressions from screenprinting to expressionism to abstract photography as well as participate in interactive art stations hosted by our incredible teaching artists.

Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy a lively festival atmosphere complete with delicious food and live entertainment. The event will be energized by a DJ and a special musical performance by Calvin Banks.

Another highlight of the celebration will be the student performances in Nyman Hall, the school’s black box Theatre, featuring the Wilson ’n William High School Theatre students. These talented young actors will perform Shakespeare and August Wilson monologues, showcasing the power of storytelling across the centuries. Our guitar students will also take the stage performing an original song and classic hits, demonstrating the musical skills they have honed through City Hearts’ programs.

Closing opportunity gaps created by a lack of access to the Arts, City Hearts provides no-cost Visual and Performing Art Education and experiences to K-12th grade students in Title 1 schools and community resource centers across Los Angeles County. Teaching Artists, with extensive resumes and professional affiliations, lead healing-centered, trauma-informed in-school and after-school classes where every student, regardless of race or economic status, receives high-impact Arts Education that addresses their academic, creative, and emotional needs.

CIACLA's participation in this event is kindly supported by Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell who represents the 2nd supervisorial district of Los Angeles. Count
